The Watervliet Public Library Staff and Board of Trustees are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Bob Fahr.
Bob, for more than two decades, generously donated his time to serve as Treasurer for the Board of Trustees. His work with the library’s finances enabled the facility to maintain its day-to-day functions for the citizens of Watervliet. Bob and the Fahr family played a major role in securing funding for the library’s recent $700,000 addition, the facility’s first upgrade since the 1970s. The library’s new Children’s Room was named in honor of Julia and William Fahr, Bob’s parents.
Bob was a stalwart at the Board of Trustees monthly meetings and an organizer of its fundraisers. Bob made it a point to reserve money each month to enable the library to keep its collection fresh with the purchase of new books and DVDs. His organization made sure the library had a yearly financial plan as well as a rainy-day fund that ensured the library remained funded in difficult economic times.
His sense of humor, selfless work and dedication to the library will be remembered most by the City of Watervliet Public Library’s Director, staff, Board of Trustees and patrons.
The library’s director, staff and Board of Trustees offers its sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to Tina Buonaiuto, Paul and Billy Fahr, the Fahr family and his friends.
May Bob rest in peace.
